This M&E project was part of a scheme to convert a 2 storey country house into a residential care home for adults with behavioural difficulties.
The mechanical works involved installation and pressure testing of a new domestic LTHW system supplying two kitchens, a spar bathroom, a laundry and en-suite shower rooms. Two new 350 litre mains pressure hot water storage cylinders were installed to manage the hot water requirements. The existing heating system was completely de-scaled, flushed and new low surface temperature radiators were installed.
New Sanitary fittings (including thermostatic shower mixers) were installed to furnish all bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms c/w wet room floors. Adaptations and extensions to the existing cold water down service pipe work were made to suit the new layout. New insulation to the loft pipe work was installed and the water tanks were upgraded to meet current Bylaw standards.
Changes to the electrical services included; new cabling, replacement impact resistant light fittings, emergency lighting for escape routes, new metal flat plate light switches for newly formed or altered rooms and additional TV points for all rooms.
A totally new fire alarm system c/w central panel and a two stage infra red staff call system was installed throughout the building. On completion of the works all the electrical installation was fully tested and certified.
