Maxted Court was one of the buildings damaged in the Buncefield depot explosion in December 2005. Trinity's involvement in the project was three fold. First and foremost we had to make the buildings safe to be occupied so that the existing tenants could continue to work. We were then required to carry out detailed surveys and investigations of the repair work required which involved considerable liaison with the client and their insurance company. Once agreement had been reached by all parties on the works required to return the units to their original condition the main body of work was carried out, all the time maintaining a fully operational workplace for the tenants.
The services within the live units comprised of heating, air-conditioning, lighting installation, fire alarm systems, security and CCTV. A number of the units had multiple tenants who remained in occupation for the duration of the works. Where sections of the units were occupied, it was of paramount importance to maintain all life safety systems in full working order along with essential power supplies; lighting, heating and ventilation.
This project involved careful planning and liaison with the client and building occupants. Success was achieved through day to day logistical planning, programming and constant communication with all parties.
