HM Combined Courts Service

Following successful completion of a major plant replacement for Her Majestys’ Courts Service in both Oxford and Maidstone last year, Trinity were tasked with providing a new heating and cooling system for the ground floor offices of the Oxford Combined Courts service. The project was carried out in partnership with E.C.Harris, HM Courts Service and Longcross Construction.

After several meetings to discuss both the client’s wishes and the actual requirements of the office environment, the optimum solution was to install the latest Sanyo 3 pipe VRF ECO system. This system offered simultaneous heating and cooling through the use of 2 roof mounted condensers fitted with a highly efficient and ecologically friendly heat recovery system. The roof mounted condensers were coupled to a number of four way diffuser cassettes in both the main open plan office area and the smaller cellular offices. Smaller wall mounted units were utilised to service the reception area.

The system was controlled by a Sanyo wall mounted controller coupled in series to a master controller, which in turn was linked to a Sanyo seven day event programmer offering total control of the on and off times, set points and all other required parameters to offer the end user a highly efficient and enjoyable environment to work in. During this phase of works Trinity also installed a touch screen intelligent controller in the maintenance office of the court building. This will facilitate total system control following completion of future planned phases of air-conditioning works in the remainder of the building.

The installation programme took place over a period of eight weekends in order to allow the offices to remain fully operational during normal working hours. This necessitated weekly area preparation and post works cleaning to ensure staff could return to work unhindered. The final phase of the works was to realign the existing light fittings to the new grid and ensure an even distribution of light across the newly completed office.
