Continuing our on-going relationship with Longcross Construction/Oxford University and successful completion of the main phase of works in 2007, Trinity were awarded further works at Begbroke Science Park, this time in the East Wing of the Institute of Advanced Technology. The project involved the provision of a workshop and 2 research laboratories which, in keeping with Trinity’s reputation for tackling ‘non-standard’ projects, boasted 2 rather unusual facilities:- a hydrogen bay and an impact engineering facility.
The M&E works were designed and procured in conjunction with all key parties on the basis of an in-depth value engineering exercise. The key electrical service requirement comprised the provision of small power service droppers. These are ceiling suspended varying power outlets offering domestic straight 3 pin sockets, commando style sockets and data outlets. A total of 259 data outlets were installed with the necessary CAT 6 data installation cabling. The mechanical works comprised the installation of ‘Reznor’ heaters to the main workshop and radiators to the labs, 2 vacuum extract systems, one for the labs and one dedicated solely for use in the hydrogen bay, chemical waste disposal facilities, a roof mounted compressor and pipework for the compressed air outlet on every electrical service dropper.
